Who doesn’t love a mug of hot cocoa by the fire? I swap out the processed hot chocolate mixes (sorry, Swiss Miss, I got too many headaches and my skin broke out too many times!) with my own raw cacao mix, which is rich in antioxidants, magnesium and boosts dopamine and serotonin levels. Who doesn’t need that, right?! Its also great for anxiety, PMS, immunity, and mood.

The cinnamon in my recipe is excellent for cognition, mood, and has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.

You can get fancy and also experiment with other immune- and mood-boosting adaptogens like ashwagnada, maca, reishi, and chaga!

***Go slow with ADAPTOGENS – they are powerful plants. Ask your doctor how they interact with any medications you might be taking.***

Small changes like these can have big impact on your well-being! Happy Holidays!

Lisa’s Hot Chocolate Recipe:

1 mug of unsweetened almond or oat milk, or full-dairy milk
2 tablespoons raw cacao
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 teaspoons raw honey

Heat the milk in a saucepan over medium-low heat. Add the cacao and cinnamon. Whisk to combine. Once heated, pour into a mug and sweeten with honey. Enjoy!
